CWG: India’s Naveen Beats Pakistan’s Sharif Tahir To Win Wrestling Gold


India’s Naveen gained a gold medal on the Commonwealth Games 2022

Indian wrestler Naveen gained the gold medal within the Men’s Freestyle 74kg class remaining after defeating Pakistan’s Muhammad Sharif Tahir within the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022. He defeated Muhammad Sharif Tahir on the Coventry Arena Wrestling Mat B on Saturday. Naveen sealed 9-0 victory by factors in opposition to Tahir within the gold medal match and clinched India’s third gold of the day on the CWG. Naveen was dominant within the first interval and didn’t let his opponent take any factors. The Indian grappler took a 2-0 lead within the first interval by pinning his opponent.

In the ultimate three minutes, Naveen managed to carry his floor with a robust grip on his opponent, pinning and rolling the Pakistani wrestler within the ring to stroll away with a gold medal.

Earlier within the day, Indian grappler Pooja Gehlot gained the bronze medal within the Women’s Freestyle 50 kg class. She defeated Christine Lemofack Letchidjio of Scotland on the Coventry Arena Wrestling Mat B on Saturday.

Ravi Dahiya bagged gold, his maiden on the CWG, within the males’s freestyle 57kg class in wrestling.


Dahiya sealed a 10-0 victory by technical superiority in opposition to Ebikewenimo Welson within the gold medal match.

Vinesh Phogat gained the gold medal within the girls’s freestyle 53kg class after defeating Chamodya Keshani Maduravalage of Sri Lanka. The match lasted for 2 minutes and 24 seconds as Phogat sealed the victory by fall.
